FFO Main Office/Warehouse
Power Pack Program (P3) provides food insecure students with weekend supplemental food. P3 School Delivery Driver Tasks: - Pick up school order from Main Warehouse P3 Loading Dock #3, 2938 Prosperity Ave, Fairfax, 22031 - Give the P3 Distributor volunteer the name of the school you are picking up - The distributor will retrieve the order and help load the packs into your vehicle - Contingent upon the school’s delivery day, pickup days are Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday between 10am to 2pm Requirements for Power Pack Drivers: - Every volunteer must register individually - P3 Driver volunteers must be at least 21 years of age - Individuals MUST sign up in advance and be on our schedule to volunteer - no walk-ins permitted - Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. If you're wondering "Can my car hold all this food?" This might be helpful: - To determine if your vehicle can hold a certain school order, divide the number of Packs they'll be receiving by 6 and you'll get an idea if your vehicle can hold that many grocery bags. - For example, if a school delivery is for 100 Packs that would be about 17 grocery bags. We round up! - Each Power Pack has 10 items in it; 2 items each for breakfast, lunch and dinner, 2 snacks and 2 drinks. They tend to weigh about 3 lbs. each. - Six Packs are placed in reusable grocery bags for ease of transportation. They end up weighing roughly 18 lbs.
The Power Pack Program (P3) allows us to provide food insecure elementary and middle school aged students with a pack of food they can bring home and eat over the weekend. Many students in our area have little to eat between their lunch at school on Friday and the breakfast that is served Monday morning. The pack, which contains 2 items each for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus 2 snacks and 2 drinks, will help alleviate the students hunger and allow them to focus more on their school work.

All volunteers must wear close-toed shoes. NO EXCEPTIONS! Safety regulations require us to send you home if you do not have the correct footwear. Safety regulations also do not allow cell phones or ear buds while working in the warehouse. Please dress to be comfortable and according to the weather. The loading dock doors are always open to the elements.
Please email volunteer@foodforothers.org if you have to cancel on the same day of your shift. If you are canceling a shift more than 1 day prior to your commitment, please update your schedule at this link https://foodforothers.volunteermatters.org/project-catalog/22. We rely heavily on the hard work of volunteers and we cannot accomplish all we do without you. If you schedule a volunteer shift and DO NOT show up, Food for Others is not able to effectively serve the community to the best of our ability. With this in mind, we also understand unexpected circumstances can cause you to cancel, so it is important to our operations that you give us as much notice as possible. A no-show may endanger future shifts.
