FFO Main Office/Warehouse
The Power Pack Program (P3) allows us to provide food insecure K-12 students with a pack of food they can bring home and eat over the weekend. Many students in our area have little to eat between their lunch at school on Friday and the breakfast that is served Monday morning. The pack, which contains 2 items each for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus 2 snacks and 2 drinks, will help alleviate the students hunger and allow them to focus more on their school work. P3 Power Packer Tasks: - Prep P3 assembly line - Assemble P3 food packs - Inspect donated pre-assembled P3 packs - Break down cardboard for recycle and clean up assembly line towards end of shift P3 Distributor Tasks: - Distribute Power Packs to delivery drivers - Drivers will give you the name of school they are picking up for - Retrieve the order and assist with loading orders, if necessary Requirements for Power Packers and Distributors: - Every volunteer must register individually - P3 Power Packer and P3 Distributor volunteers must be at least 18 years of age - Individuals MUST sign up in advance and be on our schedule to volunteer - no walk-ins permitted - Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs - Volunteers will be on their feet for the entire shift
All volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes. Safety regulations require us to send you home if you do not have the correct footwear. Safety regulations also do not allow cell phones or ear buds while working in the warehouse. Please dress to be comfortable and according to the weather as the loading dock doors are always open to the elements.
We rely heavily on the hard work of volunteers and we cannot accomplish our goals without you. We understand unexpected circumstances may cause you to cancel. We simply request that you give us as much notice as possible so that we can plan and find a replacement for your shift. If you must cancel your P3 shift less than the allotted amount of time (varies by shift), please email volunteer@foodforothers.org or call (571) 378-0602. Packers - 24 hours minimum Distributors - 48 hours minimum If you schedule a volunteer shift and do not show up, Food for Others is not able to effectively serve the community to the best of our ability. Undisclosed or frequent last-minute cancellations are considered no-shows. No-shows will endanger future volunteering potential with our organization. If you are canceling a shift more than the allotted amount of time prior to your commitment, please update your schedule by visiting your My Profile page: (foodforothers.volunteermatters.org/v..le) > "My Assignments" area > locate shift in question > click on the icon > scroll down and click "Withdraw from Assignment"
