MM My Market

FFO Main Office/Warehouse

My Market at Food for Others opened in January 2023 to support clients experiencing food insecurity. Families who visit our warehouse can select their own items in a client choice pantry and access wraparound services to help them work towards greater food security. My Market is intended to make seeking food assistance a more comfortable experience, enabling families to select items based on their cultural preferences and dietary needs. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the pace of My Market operations, volunteers must be flexible with duties to meet the needs of the day. My Market Volunteer Positions - My Market Assistant: Assistants support food distribution by helping clients select the correct number of items they wish to receive in the My Market choice pantry. Assistants may also help stock shelves, greet clients, line clients up for entry, or other pantry duties as needed. My Market Lead/Computer: Lead/Computer volunteers control the flow of clients into the pantry area, collect client tickets as they leave the market, ensure each client has received the correct items, and enter the weight of food distributed into the Food for Others computer system. Lead/Computer volunteers may also help with Assistant tasks as needed. Please see shift for more details about training and eligibility requirements. My Market Warehouse: My Market Warehouse volunteers help stock shelves, sort food that comes into the pantry from grocery partners and assist with breaking down boxes and keeping the warehouse organized. My Market Parking: Parking volunteers manage parking and traffic operations within Food for Others' parking lot, ensuring order and safety at all times. We rely heavily on the hard work of volunteers and we cannot accomplish all we do without you. If you schedule a volunteer shift and DO NOT show up, Food for Others is not able to effectively serve the community to the best of our ability. No-shows will endanger future volunteering potential with our organization. With this in mind, we also understand unexpected circumstances can cause you to cancel, so it is important to our operations that you give us as much notice as possible. If you must cancel your My Market shift less than 24 hours in advance, please email volunteer@foodforothers.org or call (571) 378-0602. Undisclosed cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice or frequent last-minute cancellations will be considered no-shows. If you are canceling a shift more than 24 hours prior to your commitment, please update your schedule by visiting your My Profile page (https://foodforothers.volunteermatters.org/volunteer/my-profile). In the "My Assignments" area, locate the shift in question, click on the icon, and then scroll down and click "Withdraw from Assignment".
