Pick up food donations from partner grocery stores and deliver them to the Food for Others warehouse. These pickups are key in providing fresh food to families in need! Food Pickup Requirements: - Must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license - Must use your own vehicle to transport food - Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs. GROCERY STORES: Collect food from each store's receiver and return the items to Food for Others. Because some stores have especially large donations, an SUV or larger is recommended for these positions. See individual shift descriptions for more details. Volunteers will need to use their own vehicles and be able to lift donated food in and out of their vehicles. Please dress comfortably and according to the weather.
We rely heavily on the hard work of volunteers and we cannot accomplish all we do without you. If you schedule a volunteer shift and DO NOT show up, Food for Others is not able to effectively serve the community to the best of our ability. No-shows will endanger future volunteering potential with our organization. With this in mind, we also understand unexpected circumstances can cause you to cancel, so it is important to our operations that you give us as much notice as possible. If you must cancel your shift less than 72 hours in advance, please email volunteer@foodforothers.org or call (571) 378-0602. Undisclosed cancellations made with less than 72 hours’ notice or frequent last-minute cancellations will be considered no-shows. If you are canceling a shift more than 72 hours prior to your commitment, please update your schedule by visiting your My Profile page (https://foodforothers.volunteermatters.org/volunteer/my-profile). In the "My Assignments" area, locate the shift in question, click on the icon, and then scroll down and click "Withdraw from Assignment".
